Our Fractional Constitution

"Article the First" required the House to grow with the population—one representative per 30,000 people—so representatives could actually know and answer to their constituents. It fell just short of ratification.

Instead, Congress capped the House at 435 members in 1911. Today each representative serves roughly 650,000 people—a ratio the Founders would have found absurd.

We ratified the speech protections, the due process protections, even the pay measure. But we left behind the amendment meant to keep the People's House tethered to the People.

Until Article the First is implemented, we're living under a fraction of the Constitution proposed in 1789. The 28th Amendment will finally remedy that! #435deprived #SaveAmerica
