Represent US!

In 1789, our first seated Congress proposed twelve amendments to the Constitution.

Not ten.

Twelve.

The first concerned representation—specifically, that as a representative cannot represent people he or she cannot reasonably know, hear, or remain accountable to, the House should grow with the population.

The second concerned congressional compensation, ensuring that any pay raise for members of Congress would not take effect until after the next election, keeping lawmakers accountable to the voters.

The remaining ten ultimately became what we know today as the Bill of Rights.

The first two, however, did not die.

The compensation amendment was ratified more than two centuries later, in 1992, becoming the 27th Amendment.

So the 28th Amendment — the representation amendment or Article the First — is next. #435deprived #SaveAmerica
