Inspired by New York City’s Labor Day Parade, President Grover Cleveland signed legislation in 1894 making today a “holiday” and official end of summer.
So today Americans celebrate Labor Day — by not laboring.
Bloodshed of the Pullman Strike also in 1994 aside, we get the day off for mattress sales and goodbye summer cookouts. 🤷♂️
You want to honor labor?
Don’t just take the day off.
Help us get 25 more states of 37 potential (that’s only 67.6%) to ratify the 28th Amendment now.
